1/2 cup strong brewed espresso or coffee

2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk and heavy cream. Heat over medium heat until just steaming, but do not let it boil. Stir occasionally to prevent a skin from forming.
Whisk in the cocoa powder and granulated sugar until fully dissolved and smooth. Continue to stir for about 2-3 minutes.
Add the brewed espresso or coffee, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix well until the flavors are combined, and heat for another 2 minutes.
