An innovative twist that combines the juiciness of grilled smash burgers with the vibrant flavors of taco fillings.
Ingredients
Scale:
1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor and juiciness)
1 tablespoon taco seasoning blend (store-bought or homemade)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
8 small flour or corn tortillas
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 cup diced tomatoes
1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
1/4 cup diced onions
1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
1/4 cup homemade taco sauce or store-bought
Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and taco seasoning blend. Mix well until the seasoning is evenly distributed.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil until shimmering.
Form the seasoned ground beef into small patties, approximately 2-3 inches in diameter. Place the patties in the hot skillet, pressing down with a spatula to smash them flat. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until browned.
Flip the patties and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Remove from heat and let rest for a minute.
While the burgers are resting, warm the tortillas in a separate skillet or microwave until pliable.
On each tortilla, place a smashed burger patty, followed by shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, onions, and a sprinkle of cheese. Drizzle with sour cream and taco sauce. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
Serve the smash burger tacos immediately while the ingredients are warm.
