  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and taco seasoning blend. Mix well until the seasoning is evenly distributed.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil until shimmering.
  3. Form the seasoned ground beef into small patties, approximately 2-3 inches in diameter. Place the patties in the hot skillet, pressing down with a spatula to smash them flat. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side until browned.
  4. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Remove from heat and let rest for a minute.
  5. While the burgers are resting, warm the tortillas in a separate skillet or microwave until pliable.
  6. On each tortilla, place a smashed burger patty, followed by shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, onions, and a sprinkle of cheese. Drizzle with sour cream and taco sauce. Garnish with fresh cilantro if desired.
  7. Serve the smash burger tacos immediately while the ingredients are warm.
