This dish is a delightful twist on the classic baked beans, marrying the sweet and savory flavors of traditional beans with the richness of ground beef. It's perfect for family gatherings, barbecues, or a cozy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cans (15 oz each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
2 cans (15 oz each) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon mustard
1/2 cup cooked bacon pieces (optional)
1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the kidney beans and pinto beans. Mix well with the sautéed beef mixture.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard until fully combined.
Pour the sauce over the bean and beef mixture and stir until everything is evenly coated.
Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes until bubbly and slightly caramelized on top.
Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Top with cooked bacon pieces and chopped green onions if desired.
