A refreshing drink that combines the unique tanginess of passion fruit with the soothing properties of tea, offering a delightful choice for warm days.
Ingredients
Scale:
4 cups water
4-6 bags of black tea or herbal tea (for caffeine-free options; consider using chamomile or rooibos)
1 cup fresh passion fruit pulp (about 4-6 passion fruits)
1/4 cup honey or agave syrup (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
Ice cubes
Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a medium saucepan, bring the 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.
Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat. Add the tea bags and let steep for 5-7 minutes.
While the tea is steeping, cut the passion fruits in half and scoop out the pulp into a bowl. Strain the pulp through a fine mesh sieve to separate the seeds, if desired.
After removing the tea bags, stir in the passion fruit pulp, honey or agave syrup, and lemon juice into the hot tea. Mix well until the sweetener is fully dissolved.
Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then transfer it to the refrigerator to chill for at least 1-2 hours.
To serve, fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the chilled passion fruit iced tea over the top. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
