  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined, ensuring there are no lumps for a smooth dough.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, egg, and melted butter until fully blended.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently for about 1-2 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover the dough with a clean cloth or plastic wrap and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  6. While the dough is resting, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes using a knife or cookie cutter.
