Description
If you're craving a sweet treat that captures the essence of carnival fun, look no further than these carnival donut holes. With just four simple ingredients, these delightful little bites are not only easy to make but also bursting with flavor and nostalgia.
Ingredients
Scale:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for the dough)
1 cup buttermilk
1 large egg, beaten
1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
Instructions
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Mix well until evenly blended.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and the beaten egg until fully combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold them together using a spatula.
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying in batches.
Fry the donut holes for about 3-4 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they are golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on a paper towel-lined plate.
While the donut holes are still warm, mix the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and roll each donut hole in the mixture.
Allow the donut holes to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm for the best experience!
